Let the School Buses Roll Print E-mail
Labor Day weekend has taken on additional significance the last couple of years. First and foremost, this national holiday reminds us that not much gets done without an able- bodied and well-trained work force. In our state, more than in most others, we have thousands of men and women who are most willing to work, but cannot find a workplace in which they can apply their skills.

On this Labor Day, we pause to celebrate the work ethic of our nation. We also pray that any individual who wants to work has the opportunity to do so in such a way that he or she is able to provide for themselves and for their families with dignity.

Labor Day also marks the end of summer vacation for our children, teachers and school staffs. It is an exciting time of the year for me. As much as I know every student is not quite ready to get back to his or her studies, I’m ready. It gets too quiet around here, and while I miss all the sites and sounds that school days bring—I miss the kids and staff the most.

Pack that Picnic Basket
Next Sunday our noon liturgy will be celebrated in Cascades Park. Pack your lunch, bring your chairs, blankets and neighbors and we will provide the beverages and dessert. In case of uncooperative weather, the liturgy will be in church and the picnic in the Social Center.
